Penguins’ Stanley Cup parade 2017 photos: Hundreds of thousands flock to Downtown Pittsburgh … because it’s the Cup
Hey, didn’t we just do this?

Updated, 9:32 p.m.
Hours before the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions were set to parade through the streets of Downtown Pittsburgh, Penguins fans staked out their spots — early.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and to end at Point State Park (check out all the details here), unlike the 2016 celebration, which brought everyone together at a packed Downtown intersection. Here’s today’s route:
But again, here’s the thing, if you weren’t out with your chair and Pens jersey *early,* you’re not getting a good spot today. Sorry to be the bearers of bad news. Here’s what it looked like by 7:30 a.m.
Hundreds were already gathered at Point State Park and along the parade’s course well before 9 a.m.
Just before 10 a.m., Grant Street was about three-people deep.

There, the City County Building and one of its most famous workers, River, Pittsburgh’s canine ambassador, were ready for the festivities.

While everyone waited for the Pens at the park, 9-year-old Riley from Buffalo, N.Y., was the biggest star at the celebration in her Halloween costume that she and her dad made. Riley plays center and has played hockey since she could walk, her mom said.
