It’s a stronghold for a reason.

Carnegie and neighboring Scott Township fish fry dominance strikes again, as the three locations that advanced to the Elite Eight of the Ultimate Pittsburgh Fish Fry all advanced to the Final Four.

Roughly 8,700 ballots were cast in the mostly close Elite Eight match ups, where losers put up strong fights.

Fire Halls and Social Clubs kept its reign as the most-voted in category of the bracket. There, Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #32 (Carnegie) trounced Swissvale VFD with 58 percent of the vote.

The tightest race of the round was in Eateries, where Riley’s Pour House (Carnegie) topped Keith Heinritz Katering (Trafford) with 51 percent of votes.

Our Lady of Grace (Scott) had the biggest winning percentage with 67 percent of the votes to defeat Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Bellevue) in the Churches West quadrant. And in Churches East, St. Mary of the Mount (Mount Washington) advanced over St. Maurice (Forest Hills) with 57 percent of the vote.
