Discuss the future of pay in the restaurant industry

At "The Tipping Point," talk with restaurant owners, bartenders, servers and guests alike about the future of pay in the restaurant industry. A panel will be led by Nicole Battle, President, United States Bartenders' Guild - Pittsburgh; Don Mahaney, owner of Scratch Food and Beverage; and Brian Keyser, owner of Casellula (which recently abandoned its no-tipping policy).

There will be beer in milk jugs at Oktoberfest

It's the city's biggest Oktoberfest celebration, featuring music, German food and, yes, the traditional beer in milk jugs. Penn Brewery's Oktoberfest runs on the weekends of Sept. 15-17 and 22-24. Fest hours are 5 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 10 p.m. Sundays. Lederhosen encouraged. So what's it like to host the city's biggest fall fest? We found out.

Party in Troy Hill … you just have to find it first

Troy Hill's Scratch Food and Beverage is throwing a celebration of its first year with an event, titled "Where the F*** is Troy Hill: A Birthday Party." The evening will feature karaoke, cocktails and food.

Summer Lovin’ had me a blast

Scratch Food & Beverage is hosting Dazed and Infused, a summer solstice party, including craft cocktails, tastings with Boyd & Blair Vodka, a spread of seasonal eats, grilled meats, and a DJ. Also on tap will be a line-up of beer cocktails and the specialty cocktail “Summer Lovin,’” featuring a strawberry basil infusion. Proceeds benefit non-profit Community Human Services.

Food trucks, beer and music — aka a good summer night

Try selections from food trucks while drinking Grist House beer and listening to live music. Trucks scheduled to attend include Pittsburgh Sandwich Society, Mac & Gold, Man Beast BBQ, Pittsburgh Po Boy, Bull Dawgs and (Ultimate Pittsburgh Food Truck semi-finalist!) Sugar & Spice.
